The Janpath, New Delhi’s main street heading towards the centre at Connaught Place, has hundreds of shops selling everything from tourist wares to lovely gifts. For a brilliant selection of Indian souvenirs, textiles and crafts visit the state government emporium Cottage Industries and the Dilli Haat bazaar.

For Kashmiri shawls and fine carpets the Carpet Cellar is reliable, and Fab India has a fabulous collection of Indian clothes and linens, while Khan Market is a favourite shopping area for upmarket Indian clothing, home wares (Good Earth and Anokhi are excellent) Bollywood movies, books and jewellery.
